With a half-century from vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee, Nepal national cricket team set a 134-run target against the West Indies cricket team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
At Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai, India, Nepal batted first after losing the toss and scored 133 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Airee rescued the team in a difficult situation, scoring a top knock of 58 off 47 balls, including three fours and three sixes. This is Nepal’s second half-century in a T20 World Cup, the first coming in 2014 when Subash Khakurel scored a fifty against Afghanistan.
Sompal Kami contributed 26 runs and Lokesh Bam added 13. Gulsan Jha made 11 before being bowled by Roston Chase. Aarif Sheikh scored 2 off 8 balls and was caught off Jason Holder.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel managed 1 run and was bowled by Akeal Hosein. Asif Sheikh scored 11 with two fours before falling to Holder. Captain Rohit Paudel made 5 and was trapped lbw by Matthew Forde, while Karan KC was out for 1.
For West Indies, Holder took four wickets, while Hosein, Forde, Shamar Joseph and Chase claimed one wicket each.
Nepal are aiming to keep their Super 8 hopes alive with a win, while West Indies are looking to secure Super 8 qualification by defeating Nepal.
