
Muscat (Oman) — Nepal has set a challenging target of 212 runs for Samoa in the final Super Six match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifier.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat first at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat, Nepal posted 211 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Nepal, opener Aasif Sheikh and Dipendra Singh Airee both scored half-centuries.
- Aasif smashed 69 runs off 41 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes.
- Dipendra contributed 53 runs off 33 deliveries, including two fours and four sixes.
Similarly, Lokesh Bam remained unbeaten on 39 runs, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel was not out on 21, while Kushal Bhurtel and Aarif Sheikh added 17 and 9 runs respectively.
For Samoa, Saumani Tai, Darius Visser, Noah Mead, and Danius Berg took one wicket each.
Nepal, which had already secured its place in the T20 World Cup with two games remaining, will lift the qualifier trophy if it defeats Samoa today. Nepal has remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and aims to maintain that record by winning its first-ever regional qualifying title.
Meanwhile, Samoa will look for a consolation win to end its qualification campaign on a positive note.
