The Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs Federation has paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z-led protests. In a statement signed by the federation’s General Secretary Rajendra Baniya, the organization urged that issues be resolved through peaceful dialogue and cooperation, so that life can return to the paralyzed transport sector.
The federation expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls, while also wishing for the speedy recovery of those injured in the protests.
The statement highlighted that the nationwide transport shutdown over the past few days has severely affected the supply of daily essentials, raw materials, industrial products, and medicines. This has created a livelihood crisis for business owners, drivers, co-drivers, and laborers, and caused extraordinary difficulties for ordinary citizens.
The federation demanded full legal protection from the state for transport entrepreneurs who pay taxes and create employment. It also emphasized the need for immediate relief and compensation arrangements for losses suffered due to the protests.
While acknowledging the political, social, and economic reform demands raised by the Gen-Z movement, the federation appealed to the government, political parties, and relevant stakeholders to address these concerns sensitively. It stressed that all parties must uphold the constitution, restore road transport, and ensure smooth public mobility.
