
The Nepal Women’s Cricket Team has won the T20 International Series against Malaysia, claiming the title 3–2 after a thrilling comeback in the decisive final match.
In the fifth and final game of the five-match series held today, Nepal stunned Malaysia with a five-wicket victory to seal the series win.
After both teams were tied 2–2, the series-deciding match took place at the Bayumas Oval. Earlier, Nepal had lost the first match by three runs, won the second by six wickets, lost the third by 13 runs, and bounced back with another six-wicket victory in the fourth match.
Chasing a target of 104 runs, Nepal reached the mark in 17.6 overs with five wickets remaining. Rubie Poddar top-scored with 26 runs off 25 balls, while Pooja Mahato contributed 23 runs off 24 balls. Captain Rubina Chhetry remained unbeaten on 15 runs off 15 balls, steering the team to victory.
Earlier, Malaysia, after winning the toss and opting to bat, posted 103 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Winifred A. Duraisingam was Malaysia’s top scorer with 40 runs off 45 balls, supported by Aina Hamizah Hashim (15 off 19) and Mahirah Izzati (19 off 18).
For Nepal, Rajmati Airee was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 15 runs in three overs, while Kavita Kunwar claimed two wickets. Airee’s key breakthroughs included three of Malaysia’s top four batters, setting up Nepal’s path to series victory.
