Nepali Army celebrated its 263rd स्थापना (foundation) day and the festival of Maha Shivaratri by organizing a special ceremony at Tundikhel.
Various military skills and parade displays were showcased in the presence of the President and the Prime Minister. The grand ceremony was held at the Sainik Manch in Kathmandu.
Every year, the army observes this day on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. This year’s event was attended by President Ramchandra Paudel as the chief guest, along with interim government Prime Minister Sushila Karki and other distinguished officials.
On the occasion, army units performed march pasts, khukuri drills, and various combat demonstrations. Spectators were also captivated by adventurous aerial displays such as flower showers from helicopters and parachute jumps.
Historically, the foundation of the modern Nepali Army is traced back to 1819 B.S., when Prithvi Narayan Shah began the unification campaign of modern Nepal. The army, carrying this proud legacy, is highly regarded today for its contributions to world peacekeeping and national security.
