The Nepali Army has urged Gen Z representatives, who have been expressing dissatisfaction regarding the leadership of the upcoming government, to come into contact on Thursday morning.
On Wednesday evening, army representatives made a public announcement outside the Army Headquarters in Kathmandu using loudspeakers. The notice stated:
“Please provide details of your leadership group — including names and contact numbers of each leader. Submit the names of individual group leaders by tomorrow morning.”
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, Gen Z representatives had proposed former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as a potential leader for an interim government. However, some youths gathered outside the Army Headquarters opposed the proposal with slogans.
Meanwhile, others suggested that Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balen Shah should be brought forward. Balen, however, expressed his support for Karki, backing her name for interim government leadership as proposed by Gen Z representatives.
Balen also stressed the need for dissolution of Parliament. Reports suggest that former Chief Justice Karki herself is positive about Gen Z’s proposal to lead an interim government.
