The Nepali Army has once again won a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Exercise, an international military patrolling competition held in Wales, United Kingdom.
According to the Nepali Army, its team secured high marks to claim the gold medal in this year’s event. The exercise featured a total of 117 teams, including 35 international teams from 33 countries.
The 10-member Nepali team was led by Major Kasam Shrestha and Captain Birendra Malasi.
Assistant Military Attaché Colonel Anup Shah at the Nepali Embassy in London stated that the Nepali Army has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in the Cambrian Patrol Exercise over the years.
Last year as well, the Nepali Army earned a gold medal, competing among 121 teams, including 38 international teams from 36 countries. The Nepali Army had previously won gold medals in 2017 and 2019.
The prestigious international competition has been held annually since 1960, and the Nepali Army has been participating since 2014.
According to the British Army, the exercise is one of the toughest military tests in the world, designed to challenge both mental and physical endurance. Over 10 days, teams must complete eight stages, covering 60 kilometers within 48 hours while carrying weapons and equipment weighing around 70 pounds (32 kilograms).
The exercise evaluates soldiers’ skills in combat readiness, intelligence gathering, casualty management, and other operational capabilities. It is regarded as one of the most demanding military competitions globally.
