The Nepali Congress has scheduled a meeting of its Central Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal issued a statement announcing the urgent meeting, which will be chaired by Central Committee member Taramani Gurung.
The meeting was called after the faction aligned with former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba began parallel activities. According to sources, the acting former party president Purna Bahadur Khadka had convened a meeting of the Deuba faction on Tuesday.
The session will include Deuba-aligned office bearers and members from the former Central Working Committee. Leaders, including Ramhari Khatiwada, stated that members were asked to attend via telephone.
Key agenda points include reviewing the arrests of former Prime Minister and KP Sharma Oli, Congress leader and former minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former minister Deepak Khadka, as well as analyzing the party’s performance in the elections held on 21st Falgun.
The party’s institutional faction and the Deuba faction have issued separate statements regarding Oli and Lekhak’s arrests. The institutional faction expressed support for legal action against those responsible for the events of 23rd and 24th Bhadra, while the Deuba faction labeled the arrests as political retaliation and promised to protest them.
