Candidates from the Nepali Congress have secured victories in the Himalayan districts of Mustang and Manang during the House of Representatives election.
In Mustang, Nepali Congress candidate Yogesh Sherchan Thakali won the election. Meanwhile, in Manang, another Nepali Congress candidate, Tek Bahadur Gurung, achieved a landslide victory, although the official announcement of the result is still pending.
Out of the total 2,284 votes cast in Manang, 2,244 votes were considered valid. Gurung received an overwhelming 2,235 votes. His closest rival, Yashoda Subedi Gurung of the Nepal Communist Party, secured 402 votes, while Ram Bahadur Ghale from the Mongol National Organization received only 9 votes.
According to journalist Nabin Ankur working in Manang, a total of 2,690 votes have been counted in the district so far.
