The Nepali Congress Central Committee meeting has finally begun, six hours after it was scheduled to start at 8 a.m. The meeting, which was previously called for 1 p.m. yesterday, had started briefly at 7:30 p.m. before being adjourned soon afterward.
Internal disputes within the Nepali Congress have intensified over the issue of holding a Special General Convention versus a regular General Convention. Amid the growing rift, General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma announced the Special General Convention, where nomination and other processes for leadership selection are currently underway.
Even as the Special General Convention proceeds, party leaders continue discussions in an effort to resolve the ongoing dispute.
