Gagan Kumar Thapa, elected as Chair of Nepali Congress through the party’s special general convention, has urged the Election Commission to make a prompt decision regarding the update of party records.
Following the conclusion of the special general convention in accordance with the party’s constitution, the details of office-bearers have changed. Thapa and his team submitted an application to the Election Commission to reflect these changes in the official records.
The delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and other commissioners, requesting swift action. “We have come to the Election Commission to update our records as per the provisions of the Political Parties Act,” Thapa said. “We request the Commission to make a decision as soon as possible.”
Thapa confirmed that all necessary documents and details from the convention were submitted. The delegation included legal experts Senior Advocates Harihar Dahal and Yadunath Khanal. Alongside Chair Thapa, newly elected vice-chairs Bishwprakash Sharma and Pushpa Bhusal, among other leaders, were also present at the Election Commission.
