The Nepali Congress has decided not to appoint an acting party president for now. A meeting of the party’s Executive Committee held at the central office in Sanepa reached this decision, according to Joint General Secretary Mahendra Yadav.
Yadav said the committee also decided not to call a special general convention at this time. Instead, once party president Sher Bahadur Deuba recovers, a Central Committee meeting will be convened to discuss these matters.
Deuba was assaulted at his residence in Budhanilkantha on September 9 during the GenZ movement and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to Yadav, the Central Committee meeting will likely be held after the Dashain–Tihar festivals. The Executive Committee also extended best wishes for the speedy recovery of Deuba and his wife.
