A faction within the Nepali Congress demanding a special general convention organized a special gathering today at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu.
Leaders have intensified pressure on the party leadership, insisting that tomorrow’s Central Working Committee meeting on Mangsir 11 must set the date for the special general convention.
Most speakers at the ongoing gathering stressed that the special general convention should be called immediately in accordance with the party statute. They demanded that the date be announced directly from tomorrow’s Central Committee meeting.
The event saw participation from senior Congress leaders, district presidents, as well as young leaders and party workers. Speakers expressed strong dissatisfaction, accusing the leadership of violating the party statute and keeping the party in a state of indecision.
Earlier, 2,499 general convention delegates had already submitted a written demand with signatures to the party office, calling for a special general convention.
