The Nepali Congress has finalized the dates for its 15th General Convention, which will now be held from Poush 26 to 29. After weeks of internal disputes that began on Asoj 28, the party has reached a resolution following directives from party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
On Sunday, Acting Party President Purna Bahadur Khadka held discussions with General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, leader Ramesh Lekhak, and Head of the Publicity Department Min Bishwakarma. Based on these consultations and the party president’s request, Khadka prepared a unified proposal for the convention schedule.
The proposal will be presented by Acting President Khadka at Monday’s Central Committee meeting. Earlier, separate proposals had been submitted by the General Secretaries and Deputy General Secretaries, prompting the need for a consensus document.
According to party sources, Khadka’s proposal is expected to be presented not for debate but for formal endorsement. He will also continue discussions with key leaders to ensure that the convention schedule is approved unanimously.
