The Nepali Congress has decided to register the party at the Election Commission on Sunday for the upcoming National Assembly election scheduled for Magh 11. According to Min Bishwakarma, Head of the Publicity Department, the decision will be endorsed in the Central Working Committee meeting on Saturday before proceeding with registration.
Bishwakarma told RatoPati, “We will make the decision in the Central Committee meeting on Saturday and go to the Election Commission on Sunday to register the party.”
The Central Committee meeting, which began on Ashoj 28, has been called again for Saturday at 1 PM.
There is an ongoing dispute within the party about whether to hold the party’s 15th General Convention, scheduled for Falgun 21, before or after the National Assembly election. Due to this dispute, the Central Committee meeting has been postponed multiple times. However, Saturday’s meeting will also finalize the decision to register the party for participation in the National Assembly election.
The Election Commission has set Mangsir 7 as the deadline for party registration for the National Assembly election to be held on Magh 11. The Commission issued a notice on Kartik 28, asking already registered parties to submit their documents for election participation within office hours by Mangsir 7.
To complete the registration, a copy of the Central Working Committee’s minute approving the decision to register the party is required.
