Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that the party will not split simply because there is a demand for a special general convention. Speaking to journalists at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Friday, Sharma said that implementing the party statute would not lead to a split.
“The Nepali Congress will not break; it will remain united. If anyone has doubts, they need not worry,” Sharma said.

He added that nominations could be completed the same day, with new leadership selected on the second day.
“This way, there will be discussions on policy as well as leadership change,” Sharma said.
However, he noted that even if leadership change is not possible at the moment, the party can still move forward through another modality. “Even if leadership change cannot happen, it does not mean the party will split,” he said. “In such a situation, the Nepali Congress should move forward united before the nation with a national commitment conference or a special general convention.”
Sharma emphasized that such decisions should be taken institutionally, through meetings of the party’s
