Nepal’s first Blind Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup team returned home on Monday after securing the runners-up position.
Officials from the National Sports Council and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) welcomed the team with a grand reception at Tribhuvan International Airport. Nepal had finished as runners-up after losing the final to India by 7 wickets on Sunday in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the media after arriving in Kathmandu, team captain Geeta Paudel said she was proud that Nepal managed to become runners-up in the first Blind Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup despite having limited resources and facilities.
Head coach Puransingh Khatri said the team’s hard work over the last two months paid off, enabling Nepal to secure the runner-up title. He praised the team’s performance throughout the tournament.
Nepal had defeated strong opponents including Pakistan and Australia during the Blind Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup.
