CPN (Maoist Centre) senior leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that ideological and cultural transformation along with broad restructuring of the Nepali communist movement is the need of the day. He emphasized that the ongoing unity process between his party and the CPN (Unified Socialist) should be viewed from this broader perspective.
According to Shrestha, the party unification process will only be meaningful and produce positive results if it advances with the transformation and reorganization demanded by the overall communist movement. While the Maoist Centre has initiated efforts toward unity with the Unified Socialist, Shrestha said this initiative should serve as a starting point for a wider campaign to transform and reorganize the communist movement in Nepal.
He further stated that the unity process can only be successful if the concerned parties participate collectively rather than remaining divided. Stressing the need for patience, Shrestha cautioned against rushing the process, warning that haste could undermine both meaningful unity and purposeful restructuring.
