The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) witnessed a significant decline on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. After falling by 11.29 points last Thursday, the Nepse index dropped further by 30.02 points today, accompanied by a decrease in overall trading volume.
At the end of the day, the Nepse index stood at 2,566.09 points, while the Sensitive Index fell by 5.90 points, the Float Index by 2.42 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 2.21 points.
The total turnover also decreased compared to the previous session. On Thursday, shares worth Rs. 5.41 billion were traded, whereas today’s turnover amounted to Rs. 4.90 billion.
All 13 sub-indices closed in the red. The Finance subgroup recorded the steepest fall, plunging by 2.91%. Similarly, indices of Banking, Development Bank, Hydropower, Investment, Life Insurance, Microfinance, Mutual Fund, and Non-Life Insurance sectors each declined by more than 1%.
Despite the overall market downturn, three companies hit the positive circuit level: Darmakhola Hydro Energy, Mabilung Energy, and Sagar Distillery. Meanwhile, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the highest loss of the day, dropping by 10%.
In terms of trading volume, Union Hydropower Limited topped the list, with shares worth Rs. 277.6 million traded today.
