The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a significant decline today.
The benchmark index dropped by 27.59 points to close at 2,614.55, marking a 1.04 percent decrease.
According to NEPSE, shares of 324 companies were traded 72,104 times. A total of 15,989,430 shares were bought and sold, resulting in a turnover of NPR 6.69 billion (NPR 6,69,97,21,204).
All sectoral sub-indices closed in the red. The banking group declined by 0.52 percent, development banks by 1.41 percent, finance by 0.56 percent, hotels and tourism by 1.09 percent, hydropower by 1.81 percent, investment by 0.94 percent, and life insurance by 0.73 percent.
Similarly, manufacturing and processing fell by 1.02 percent, microfinance by 0.48 percent, mutual funds by 0.22 percent, non-life insurance by 0.42 percent, trading by 3.59 percent, and others by 0.85 percent.
The share price of Salapa Bikas Bank Limited hit the positive circuit for the day.
Meanwhile, Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower Company Limited recorded the highest loss, with its share price falling by 8.92 percent.
In terms of transaction amount and number of shares traded, Ankhukhola Jalvidyut Company Limited topped the list, with 1,782,903 shares worth NPR 634.24 million traded during the day.
