Newly elected members of Nepal’s House of Representatives have taken the oath of office and secrecy. The ceremony was held at the temporary parliament building in Singha Durbar, where lawmakers were formally sworn in.
The oath-taking program was conducted by the senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narasingha KC, who administered the oath to the newly elected MPs.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, a total of 63 lawmakers took the oath in their mother tongues instead of Nepali, reflecting Nepal’s rich linguistic diversity.
Members arrived at Singha Durbar dressed in their traditional and cultural attire, adding a distinct vibrancy to the event with outfits representing various communities.
With the oath-taking ceremony completed, the newly elected MPs have officially begun their tenure.
