A massive accident occurred Thursday evening near the Navle Bridge on the outskirts of Pune, involving 20 to 25 vehicles. The crash was triggered when a truck’s brakes failed, causing it to first collide with a car.
According to Dainik Bhaskar, the car was then pushed into a container in front, which caught fire, along with the truck. Five people in the car reportedly burned alive.
A total of nine people, including the truck driver, lost their lives in the accident, and around 20 others were injured. Police reported that the incident took place near Bhorgaon on the Pune–Nashik Highway.
Emergency responders, including police and fire brigades, reached the site immediately and managed to control the fire. All the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
