The ninth phase of the Waling Festival is set to begin from Wednesday in Waling, Syangja. The Gandaki Province–level festival is being organized under the slogan “Our Pride, Our Identity: Waling Festival,” according to Chetanarayan Shrestha, President of the Waling Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Senior Vice President of the Chamber, Anupama Dhungana, informed that the festival will feature various types of stalls including agriculture and handicrafts, services and industries, and commercial trade. Nearly 400 stalls have been constructed at the Waling playground for the event.
More than 40 stalls related to agriculture, agricultural tools, and handicrafts have been provided free of charge, while local traders have been offered a 30 percent discount.
According to Pitambar Khanal, Secretary of the Chamber and Coordinator of the Publicity Committee, the festival is expected to generate an income of NPR 16.8 million, with estimated expenses of NPR 11.451 million, resulting in projected savings of NPR 5.349 million. The organizers aim for short-term transactions worth NPR 100 million and expect around 300,000 visitors during the ninth Waling Festival.
The festival will be inaugurated by Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The event, considered one of the best festivals in Gandaki Province, will be held at the Waling playground and will run for 12 days until Magh 25.
