The Federal Parliament Secretariat Nepal has set today’s schedule for the registration of nominations for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Nepal.
According to a notice issued by House Secretary Harkaraj Rai, the time for nomination registration has been fixed from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The list of candidates will be published at 2:30 PM in the order of registration.
Similarly, Speaker DP Aryal has scheduled the election for Friday. The Deputy Speaker will be elected during the House meeting to be held at 4:00 PM on Friday.
As per constitutional provisions, the Deputy Speaker must be from a different party than the Speaker, so candidates are expected from opposition parties. Since the Speaker is male, the Deputy Speaker is certain to be a woman.
With the Rastriya Swatantra Party holding near a two-thirds majority in the House, the party that secures its support is likely to win the Deputy Speaker position.
