CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said it is wrong to hold him responsible for the human casualties that occurred during the “Gen-Z” movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082. Speaking at a cadre interaction program in his electoral constituency Jhapa-5, former Prime Minister Oli clarified that the accusations related to the incident were false and deliberately spread misinformation.
Rejecting the allegations against him, Oli said, “I was accused of the incident in which youths were killed. A prime minister does not personally carry a gun or go to fire shots. The Army, Police, and Armed Police Force have their own chain of command and responsibilities, and security management falls under the administration.” He claimed that the accusations were not generated locally but were imported from outside, and that such misinformation fueled vandalism, arson, and looting.
Chairperson Oli stated that opposition to UML is nothing new and that attacks have always come while the party is engaged in nation-building and safeguarding national interests. Complaining that development budgets for Jhapa were halted after he left the government, he said, “The moment I was removed, the budgets here were stopped. Those who now come to compete with us are the very ones who blocked those budgets.” Emphasizing that UML believes in action rather than rhetoric, Oli made it clear that he has returned to the electoral arena to complete unfinished development works.
