
One girl has died, two women have gone missing, and another person has been injured in an auto accident in Darchula.
The incident occurred around 1 PM on Monday at Saukebagar cliff road in Naugad Rural Municipality-5, when an auto (registration number M-1 H-1148) veered off the road and plunged into the Naugad River, according to District Police Office Darchula’s spokesperson, Inspector Chhatra Bahadur Rawat.
The deceased is estimated to be 12–13 years old, but her identity has not yet been confirmed. Two women who were traveling in the auto are reported missing in the river.
Among the passengers, Ayush Bhul (17), son of the driver Maniram Bhul, sustained injuries and has been taken to Gokuleshwar Hospital for treatment. The driver, Maniram Bhul, is in police custody.
Police said the vehicle, carrying five people including the driver, was traveling from Hoprigad, the center of Naugad Rural Municipality, towards Dhuligada when it fell about 50 meters down into the Naugad River. Police teams from Dhuligada and Hoprigad have reached the accident site for rescue operations.
