One person has died and 16 others were injured after a jeep carrying students met with an accident in Bhumikasthan Municipality of Arghakhanchi district. The accident occurred on Friday when a jeep (Lu 2 Cha 5179) traveling from Dhanchaur of Bhumikasthan Municipality-10 to Nuwakot crashed near Chhirling Khola in Bhumikasthan Municipality-7.
According to health worker Ashok Chauhan of Arghakhanchi Hospital, the driver of the jeep, 45-year-old Rudra Bahadur Budha Magar of Bhumikasthan-10, Dhanchaur, died in the accident. The 16 injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at Arghakhanchi Hospital.
The jeep was transporting students who were heading to participate in the municipal-level President Running Shield tournament scheduled to begin today. Following the accident, all events of the President Running Shield tournament have been suspended, informed Bhumikasthan Municipality Mayor Jhabilal Thapa.
