The identities of those killed and injured in a pickup jeep accident in Dhorpatan, Baglung, have been confirmed.
According to police, the accident occurred around 10 p.m. on Friday when a pickup (registration number Ga 3 Cha 3819) traveling from Burtibang to Dhorpatan met with an accident at Chhwabir, the border area between wards 8 and 9 of Dhorpatan Municipality.
Rajendra Adai, 23, of Dhorpatan Municipality–7, died on the spot. Two others—driver Dil Bahadur Bik, 27, of Dhorpatan–9, and Basanta Adai, 24, of Dhorpatan–7—were injured, said Inspector Tilak Manandhar, chief of the Burtibang Area Police Office.
Inspector Manandhar stated that driver Bik is receiving treatment at Burtibang Hospital, while Basanta Adai has already returned home after receiving medical attention.
The pickup reportedly veered off the Burtibang–Dhorpatan road and plunged about 60 meters down into the Bhujikhola River.
Inspector Manandhar added, “We have identified all the victims. The accident happened at night, and we immediately carried out rescue operations. Although one person died at the scene, we were able to rescue and take the others to the hospital in time.”
