Traffic has resumed on a one-way basis along the Daunne section of the East–West Highway in Nawalpur, which had been blocked since Friday.
Continuous rainfall had made the road extremely slippery, preventing vehicles from climbing uphill and causing long delays for travelers. Although the rain has stopped, the road remains muddy and difficult for vehicles to pass.
Vehicles traveling from west to east were unable to climb the Bardaghat uphill, while those moving from east to west struggled at Dumkibas. According to the Area Police Office Dumkibas, areas like Pausthi Mode and Ghyo Khola were particularly risky.
Police Inspector Thamman Singh Thapa stated that vehicles have been allowed to pass alternately in a one-way system since Sunday morning.
Since Friday evening, heavy vehicles heading west had been halted in the Kawasoti forest area, while those heading east were stopped at Bardaghat. As movement resumed this morning, long traffic congestion has formed, stretching approximately 5 to 7 kilometers, according to the District Police Office.
Although most parts of the Narayanghat–Butwal road section are blacktopped, around 3–4 kilometers in the Daunne area remain unpaved. This has caused persistent difficulties for travelers—vehicles struggle to climb during rains due to slippery conditions, while dust creates problems during dry weather.
