In Sunsari’s Inaruwa Municipality-4, a parent allegedly attacked students following a dispute among Grade 10 pupils at Unique Academy.
On Tuesday morning, 42-year-old Laldev Thakur reportedly assaulted students, including Sauram Mehta and Sandip Mehta, after claiming that his son, a Grade 10 student, was beaten by classmates over contributions for the Saraswati Puja. Thakur, who is reportedly affiliated with the Armed Police Force, confronted the students in the school premises.
Following the attack, students staged a protest in front of the Sunsari District Police Office, during which they also set fire to Thakur’s motorcycle (Province 1, Plate No. ०१.०२.०४९ प. ५९९४). The protest briefly blocked the highway and caused tension near the police office. The situation was calmed after police assured investigation and action against Thakur.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrabhadur Khadka stated that Thakur, along with four others, has been taken into custody for investigation. Police confirmed that the inquiry into the incident is underway.
