Passenger bus services have gradually resumed from the New Bus Park in Gongabu. Public transport had been halted after the government imposed prohibitory orders and curfew on September 8 and 9 (Bhadra 23 and 24) due to the Gen-Z movement.
Pankaj Malla, Head of Human Resources at Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd., said that dozens of vehicles left the Kathmandu Valley between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. today.
Earlier, the umbrella body of transport operators, the Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs’ Federation, had issued a notice instructing its affiliated organizations not to operate vehicles during the unrest.
Currently, however, buses have begun operating independently. Federation Senior Vice President Saroj Sitoula said that discussions are ongoing with security agencies and the ministry to coordinate institutional resumption of services in the coming days.
