A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a mini truck on Friday night at Narighat in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality–2 of Tanahun district along the Prithvi Highway.
According to the District Police Office, Tanahun, the deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Dal Bahadur Thapa of Gorkha Municipality Ward No. 14.
Thapa was seriously injured after being struck by a mini truck bearing registration number Ba Pra 03-001 Ka 0268, which was traveling from Dumre towards Abukhaireni. He sustained a severe head injury and was taken to Chitwan Medical College for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shravan Kumar Bik.
Police have arrested the truck driver, 29-year-old Babulal Lola of Palase Village, Ward No. 1, Sarikhet, Makwanpur, who had fled the scene after the accident.
