
The player auction for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is set to take place on Thursday, August 8 (Shrawan 22). A total of 150 players have been shortlisted for the auction.
Out of these 150 players, only 37 will be selected by the franchise teams. NPL selected the 150 players from a pool of 458 applicants, based on a set of criteria prepared by the technical team of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and team preferences.
The shortlisted players are divided into three categories:
- Category ‘A’ – 8 players
- Category ‘B’ – 35 players
- Category ‘C’ – 107 players
Franchise teams are allowed to bid for:
- 4 players from Category ‘A’
- 23 players from Category ‘B’
- 10 players from Category ‘C’
Totaling 37 players in this edition.
Player Price Range by Category:
- Category ‘A’: Minimum NPR 1 million – Maximum NPR 1.5 million
- Category ‘B’: Minimum NPR 500,000 – Maximum NPR 1 million
- Category ‘C’: Minimum NPR 200,000 – Maximum NPR 500,000
In the first edition of NPL, 88 players including marquee players were selected through auction, of which 51 have been retained for the second season.
This year’s auction is expected to further boost excitement and competition in the Nepal Premier League.
