The players’ auction for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is being held today. According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the auction will start at 3:00 PM and will be broadcast live on the official NPL YouTube channel. Through this auction, the eight participating teams will sign the remaining 37 players. Previously, the teams had already retained 51 players from last season.
A total of 458 players had registered within the deadline to take part in the auction. Out of these, CAN’s technical committee shortlisted 150 players who met the criteria. Only these 150 will participate in today’s auction—8 in Category ‘A’, 35 in Category ‘B’, and 107 in Category ‘C’.
On Saturday, the eight NPL teams will bid for the players. Four players will be required from Category ‘A’, while 23 players will be traded from Category ‘B’. If any Category ‘B’ player remains unsold in the second phase, they will move to Category ‘C’, where they can still be bid on. Ten players will be traded from Category ‘C’.
The base price for Category ‘A’ players is set between NPR 1 million and NPR 1.5 million, for Category ‘B’ between NPR 500,000 and NPR 1 million, and for Category ‘C’ between NPR 200,000 and NPR 500,000.
