Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his best wishes on the occasion of International Youth Day. Conveying his message via social media, PM Oli congratulated youth around the world on this special day.
“Today is International Youth Day. In 1999, the United Nations declared August 12 as Youth Day to honor the contributions, rights, and opportunities of young people. The day was first celebrated in 2000. It has inspired youth to become empowered in social, economic, cultural, and political spheres,” Oli stated.
He likened youth to the budding smile of a flower, emphasizing that the nation’s future lies in their energy, creativity, and dreams. “With our positive mindset, continuous efforts, and united actions, we will fulfill the commitment to make the nation prosperous,” he added.
International Youth Day is being celebrated today across the globe, including in Nepal. In Nepal, the day has been officially observed under the leadership of the National Youth Council since 2016 (2073 BS).
