The voting process to elect the new leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has finally concluded. Voting, which began at 9:00 am on Wednesday, ended at 5:35 am on Thursday.
Delegates faced significant hardship during the process, with many standing in queues throughout the night and casting their votes while staying awake overnight. Due to the slow pace of voting, it took an average of around 35 minutes for a single delegate to complete voting.
A total of 2,263 delegates were selected nationwide for the ongoing general convention. According to the Central Election Commission, 2,227 delegates participated in the voting process, while 36 delegates were absent due to health issues and various other reasons. The commission stated that those absent included central leaders as well as representatives from different departments and regions. Discipline Commission member Pradeep Pyakurel (Sushil) was present at the venue but was unable to vote due to the absence of a voting card.
