Kathmandu – Police have decided to keep the complaints filed against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, and Sudan Gurung, coordinator of Haami Nepal, on hold citing insufficient evidence.
Complaints were filed against Oli and Lekhak by families of individuals who were killed during recent protest movements. They were accused of committing crimes against humanity by allegedly ordering the use of live bullets against protesting students, resulting in deaths.
Similarly, supporters of CPN-UML and Nepali Congress had filed separate complaints against Balen Shah and Sudan Gurung on various charges related to recent political confrontations.
However, according to police sources, these complaints have been moved to the ‘tameli’ section, meaning they will not proceed for investigation at the moment due to lack of evidence.
Police officials said the complaints may be reviewed again in the future if substantial evidence is produced, but no immediate investigation will take place.
Meanwhile, the student wing of Nepali Congress, Nepal Student Union (NSU), has launched a nationwide campaign to register complaints against those they accuse of suppressing protests.
