Police have completed the investigation into the murder of Inisha Bik from Surkhet, who was allegedly raped and killed, and have submitted the report to the government attorney’s office.
According to Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Sharma, the report has been prepared based on all collected evidence and findings from a detailed investigation. He stated that although some reports are still pending, the primary investigation has been completed and submitted.
With the submission of the report, the case has now entered the judicial process. Information Officer Mohan Jung Budhathapa said the report includes evidence, statements from the accused, and other findings gathered during the investigation.
Police had arrested four individuals in connection with the case and have recommended legal action against all of them on charges of rape and murder, stating that their involvement has been established through the investigation.
Authorities conducted a scientific investigation with support from the Central Investigation Bureau, including polygraph tests, call detail record (CDR) analysis, and forensic examinations such as toxicological and bio-serological tests.
According to police, the post-mortem report indicates that Inisha died due to excessive bleeding following sexual assault. However, one of the accused, a minor, claimed in his statement that he had been in a relationship with the victim for two years and that the incident occurred with consent, after which she lost consciousness due to bleeding.
CCTV footage reportedly shows only the victim and the minor present at the location early in the morning.
The victim’s family has refused to receive the body, alleging gang rape and demanding justice. Even after 18 days, the body remains at the morgue of Karnali Province Hospital.
The 16-year-old victim, a Grade 11 student at Usha Balbatika School, originally from Gurbhakot, had been living in Birendranagar.
Protests have been held across the country demanding justice and punishment for those involved. The issue has also been raised in the Karnali Provincial Assembly, with lawmakers calling for strict action against the perpetrators.
