Political tension has flared up in Madhesh Province following the appointment of the new Chief Minister, Saroj Kumar Yadav. Leaders and cadres from seven political parties staged a protest and vandalized the Chief Minister’s Office in opposition to his appointment.
From early morning, demonstrators gathered in front of the Chief Minister’s Office, chanting strong slogans against newly appointed Chief Minister Yadav. They also attempted to obstruct his arrival at the office.
As the protest intensified, demonstrators vandalized the Chief Minister’s Office. Several other ministries, including the Ministry of Home, Communication, and Law, were also padlocked. Security personnel have been deployed to bring the situation under control.
Province Chief Sumitra Bhandari had appointed UML Parliamentary Party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav as Chief Minister on Monday. However, seven political parties dissatisfied with the decision have called the appointment unconstitutional and staged protests against it.
