The midnight meeting on Monday between Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra ‘Balen’ Shah has been viewed positively by political observers. Leaders say the discussion indicates a reduction in the recent political distance between the two figures.
The meeting took place at the office of music company “G-21,” owned by Asim Sah in Kathmandu, and was held in a cordial atmosphere, according to Sah. Observers also noted the significance of Lamichhane and Shah leaving the venue together in the same vehicle, signaling the meaningful nature of the discussion.
Although no concrete agenda was publicly disclosed, leaders described the dialogue as a positive exchange on the current political situation, prospects for future collaboration, and potential cooperation. The meeting is seen as an initiative toward understanding and coordination among change-oriented political forces.
Coordinating the meeting, RSP leader Asim Sah shared his reflections on social media, saying, “Finally, a happy beginning to the story. Rabi and Balen—two brothers—have reunited. This is not only a personal reunion but also a union of hope sought by the nation. Congratulations to all Nepalis.”
Political circles view this meeting as a potentially important event that could serve as a foundation for new political alignments and cooperation in the days ahead.
