Coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stated that his government was toppled at a time when he had already begun efforts to resolve the long-standing problems of landless and squatter communities, which prevented the issue from being fully solved.
He made this remark today while receiving a memorandum from the Nepal Central-Level Settlement Management Committee. Prachanda explained that during his previous tenure as Prime Minister, initiatives had begun in districts such as Chitwan and Mahottari to address the concerns of the landless and squatters, but subsequent governments failed to take necessary steps to continue the work.
Prachanda also expressed his commitment to taking further initiatives to resolve the issue.
The Central-Level Settlement Management Committee submitted a memorandum urging the Nepal Communist Party to take immediate action to address the problems faced by landless and squatter families across the country.
A delegation led by Committee Chair Ajay Vaigars met Prachanda at the party’s central office in Parisdanda today to hand over the memorandum.
The committee stressed that the state must take effective long-term measures to improve the living conditions of landless, squatter, and economically deprived citizens and urged Prachanda to play an active role in achieving this.
