Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that joining the government is not on his party’s priority list.
Speaking to journalists today, Prachanda stated that while the party has been critical of the government’s performance, this should not be interpreted as a desire to enter the government. “This government is not doing well. Raising that issue does not mean we want to join the government. We have no interest in that matter,” he said in response to a question about a possible change in government.
He added that from the third week of Bhadra, the Maoist Centre will resume its previously postponed campaign, after which a central committee meeting will be held to move forward with new agendas. “At present, the party is focused on listening to the people. The campaign will be resumed to address their grievances,” he said.
Prachanda also mentioned that the recent standing committee meeting had united the party and that its decisions will be implemented.
In a separate context, he shared that he had inspected the under-construction Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium and felt the need to expedite the work there.
