Nepal Communist Party Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the country has already become focused on elections and that the current government will conduct them. Speaking at a press interaction organized by the Press Center in Khandbari on Sunday, Dahal said that since political parties have already submitted their proportional closed lists to the Election Commission, Nepal has clearly entered the election phase.
He stated that there is no reason to doubt the election process as the Gen Z generation is also in favor of elections. Dahal claimed that there is no possibility of forming an all-party or consensus government at this stage and that the government will not be restructured.
Speaking to journalists before returning to Kathmandu, Dahal said the present government is capable of holding the House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 as scheduled. He recalled that while drafting the constitution through the Constituent Assembly, political parties had promised to review the constitution after ten years and amend it based on both its strengths and shortcomings.
According to Dahal, the spirit of the Gen Z movement has created a need for political parties to seek a new public mandate. He asserted that since the election process has already begun, parliament will not be reinstated and the current government must complete the elections. He added that the process of constitutional amendment would move forward after a new mandate is obtained.
Dahal, along with co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, had arrived in Khandbari to attend the unification declaration program of the Nepal Communist Party, Sankhuwasabha.
