All necessary arrangements have been completed at Pashupatinath Temple for the grand Hindu festival of Maha Shivaratri. With millions of devotees expected to visit the temple, the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has set up special measures to ensure smooth, safe, and organized darshan.
In a Thursday press briefing, PADT officials announced that four main entry gates will open from 2:00 AM to manage the flow of devotees. Pilgrims coming from Battisputali–Gausala via Pingalsthan and passing Dharma Shala will enter through the south gate after crossing Panchadev and the four shrines. Those approaching from the airport side via Tilganga–Rammandir will enter through the east gate and exit the same gate after darshan.
Devotees from Jorpati, Kapan, Mahankal, and Chabahil areas will enter via North Gate through Mitra Park–Gaurighat and exit via the same route, PADT Executive Director Subaschandra Joshi stated. Those coming from Ratopul, Kalopul, and Sifal will enter through the small gate near Bhuwaneswari Temple via Machhindra Ganesh and Dathutol, proceed to Shankaracharya Math, cross the Akashe Pul, and exit through the West Main Gate.
To maintain order and security, a command post with a police control center equipped with communication services will be set up at the main temple area. Additional sub-command posts will be deployed at accommodation and food centers, parking areas, footwear counters, and key locations such as Gorakhnath, Sifal, Tilganga, Wankali, Kailash, Rammandir, Umakund, and Vedavidyashram ghats.
As the Pashupati area is strictly prohibited for meat, alcohol, and narcotics, special police units will monitor and control the sale and distribution of such items. Health camps, drinking water facilities, and volunteers have also been arranged to assist devotees. This year, Maha Shivaratri falls on Sunday, Falgun 3, and will be celebrated across Nepal with devotion and reverence.
