Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who is on an official visit to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on President Ramchandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas today.
During the meeting, President Paudel highlighted the vast potential for deepening bilateral economic relations in trade, tourism, investment, and technology transfer. Citing Paudel, Presidential Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel said, “The Government of Nepal is keen to accelerate cooperation in these areas.”
President Paudel added that Nepal is currently focused on economic and social transformation through investments in agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and hydropower. He also expressed happiness over Vietnam’s success in becoming one of the world’s dynamic economies.
Referring to Buddhism as a bridge of deep connection between the peoples of both nations, Paudel noted that Lumbini is revered as a sacred destination that many Vietnamese aspire to visit at least once in their lifetime.
Vice President Xuan, meanwhile, remarked that since Nepal aims to achieve middle-income country status by 2030 and Vietnam targets high-income status by 2045, it is essential to develop a comprehensive framework for bilateral cooperation well before 2030.
She also emphasized the importance of collaboration in culture, sports, and tourism. Furthermore, Xuan praised Nepal’s initiatives in peacebuilding on the international stage and its commitments to addressing the impacts of climate change.
