President Ram Chandra Paudel has called on the young generation, particularly Gen Z, to make the upcoming election on March 5 (Falgun 21) a historic event by ensuring its success.
During a discussion held at Sheetal Niwas on Thursday with members of the interim government and Gen Z campaigners, President Paudel said that the election was announced with the hope of creating a nation free from corruption, nepotism, favoritism, and bias, where capable and honest people lead the country.
According to the President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel, Paudel urged the youth to take the election as a national mission to transform the nation, not just as a regular political event. “In this election, you young people must take the lead to form a good parliament. The corrupt and dishonest should not win; only honest and capable individuals should be elected,” Pokharel quoted the President as saying. “After that, the country should move toward justice, good governance, and progress. The situation where youths are forced to migrate abroad must come to an end.”
President Paudel emphasized that although the President is not an executive authority in the current constitutional and parliamentary system, he decided to engage with Gen Z representatives and include government participation in the discussion to honor the spirit of the youth-led movement.
He also assured that the remaining demands of the protestors would be given due attention by the government, reaffirming his commitment to ending corruption and promoting good governance.
