
President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that Nepal’s biodiversity, which directly and indirectly supports the livelihoods of more than 2 billion people, is under serious threat.
Addressing the Hindu Kush Himalaya Parliamentary Conference in Kathmandu on Monday, President Paudel highlighted that countries in the Hindu Kush Himalayan region, including Nepal, are facing alarming challenges. He stressed the need for joint efforts to overcome the crisis.
“Climate change, biodiversity loss, and air pollution are no longer limited to scientific reports; they have become harsh realities of our daily lives,” President Paudel stated.
He emphasized that the conference offers a historic opportunity to chart a roadmap for a shared and sustainable future, expressing commitment to safeguard the geography, forests, rivers, and atmosphere of the Himalayan region.
