President Ram Chandra Paudel arrived in Japan today on a four-day official visit. He was received at Narita International Airport by the Chief of Protocol of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal Toru Maida, Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to Japan Hariharikanta Paudel, among others.
President Paudel, leading a Nepali delegation along with First Lady Sabita Paudel, departed for Japan on Sunday night at the invitation of the Japanese government. According to the President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel, the President will attend a special ceremony in Japan organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
As per the itinerary, President Paudel will pay a courtesy call on Japan’s Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. He is also scheduled to hold courtesy meetings with Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii.
Press Advisor Pokharel further informed that during the visit, President Paudel will interact with members of the Japanese business community and attend a reception organized in his honor by the Embassy of Nepal in Japan.
Nepal and Japan established diplomatic relations on September 1, 1956. Following the establishment of relations, Nepal opened its embassy in Tokyo in 1965, while Japan established its embassy in Kathmandu in 1967.
President Paudel is scheduled to return home on Wednesday, Magh 21, after completing his four-day visit.
