
President Ram Chandra Paudel has urged the government and heads of security agencies to create an atmosphere that assures free, fair, independent, and fear-free elections. During a discussion held today at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, with Prime Minister of the interim government Sushila Karki and cabinet ministers, President Paudel requested the chiefs of all four security agencies to build public and political confidence regarding the upcoming elections.
According to the President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel, President Paudel emphasized the need for security agencies to play an effective role in maintaining law and order and ensuring elections are held in a peaceful and fearless environment. He also urged the authorities to immediately recover the weapons looted on Bhadra 24 and arrest the escaped prisoners.
Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki assured that the government is fully committed to holding elections in an independent, fair, and fear-free environment. She added that the government would leave no stone unturned and would provide all necessary resources and support to the security agencies.
The chiefs of the security agencies also assured their readiness and capability to ensure peaceful elections in a secure environment. Recalling that they had successfully conducted elections even in more challenging circumstances in the past, they expressed full preparedness for the upcoming polls.
The meeting was attended by Interim Prime Minister Karki, all ministers except the Finance Minister, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel, Inspector General of Nepal Police Chandra Kuber Khapung, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Raju Aryal, and Chief of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki.
