Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal Karki, who also oversees the Ministry of Tourism, has directed the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to immediately dismiss all contract employees recruited through political and personal influence.
In a meeting held at Singha Durbar today with NAC board members and senior management officials, PM Karki expressed strong dissatisfaction over the recent appointments made by NAC Chairperson Yubaraj Adhikari. She criticized Adhikari for appointing 45 individuals—relatives and party loyalists—without competition, even as his tenure was nearing completion.
Citing the Prime Minister’s statement, the PM’s Secretariat said:
“While the Gen Z movement has been shedding blood against nepotism and corruption, the corporation continues to recruit people arbitrarily even at the end of the chairman’s term. This is a disgraceful act of favoritism and mismanagement.”
Once regarded as a matter of national pride, Nepal Airlines has now fallen into a “painful state,” the Prime Minister remarked. She instructed officials to take strict, impartial action against irregularities within the corporation, emphasizing that no one should be spared in efforts to reform the institution.
